We have a great opportunity for a Metering Network Electrical Technician to join our clean water team. As the successful candidate, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our district and zonal metering systems in the London area. You’ll take ownership of the maintenance and repair of critical pressure points, using your technical expertise and diagnostic skills to keep our reporting systems operating at their best. What you’ll be doing as the Metering Network Electrical Technician:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on metering equipment and pressure points.
  • Use advanced planning and technical systems to diagnose faults and underground failures.
  • Make impactful technical decisions, considering both the network and our valued customers.
  • Work alongside skilled field teams and control centres to tackle complex flow and pressure challenges.
  • Maintain vital equipment stocks to ensure seamless customer service.

Qualifications:

  • A time‑served apprentice with significant experience of electrical systems working in a “true multi‑skilled” capacity. Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, BTEC or C&G level 3 in electrical/electronic engineering is crucial.
  • Completed a craft apprenticeship and has electrical instrumentation experience; ideally City and Guilds or equivalent qualified in this area.
  • Previous experience within the electrical trade, particularly with instrument programming knowledge.
  • Strong organisational skills, awareness of compliance and health and safety, and a proactive approach to daily tasks.
  • Working with SCADA systems and programming of equipment is required, as is the ability to learn bespoke packages. Confidence communicating with internal colleagues and the general public.
  • A full and clean UK driving licence is essential. Knowledge of the Road Traffic Management Act (NRSWA) is desirable, though full training can be provided.
