Thames Water is recruiting a Waste and Sustainability Coordinator within the Environmental Compliance Team. This team sits within the Renewals and Logistics area of the business. Its function is to reduce waste by encouraging re‑use and sustainability by promoting its internal free cycle operation, Greentag, and to ensure compliance with waste regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day management of re‑use of materials & equipment within the Company via an intranet‑based system 'Greentag'.
  • Ensuring compliance with Waste Duty of Care.
  • Provide advice on waste management matters.
  • Problem solving and innovation.
  • Support the Environmental Compliance Lead as subject matter expert for waste.
  • Ensuring Health & Safety requirements are met within the Company.
  • Recording and reporting waste data.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of waste legislation and policy in the UK.
  • Collaborative skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously whilst working to tight deadlines.
  • Hold a valid and clean UK driving licence.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of undertaking audits (waste duty of care) and site inspections.
  • Delivering training.
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability or other relevant subject.
  • Chartered status with relevant professional body (e.g. CIWM, SocEnv, CIWEM).
