In this role you will plan ahead and work as part of a team to support the Strategic Network Upgrade program across the South London area. You will take ownership of Network Upgrade projects, working with internal and external stakeholders, and support team members within the group.
This role will mainly be based in South West London (KT & TW Postcodes) & Surrey but there is a need to be occasionally flexible to support across the whole Thames Water area when business needs require.
What you’ll be doing as a Strategic Field Technician:
- Fully support the Strategic Network Upgrade program across the South London area, taking ownership of Network Upgrade projects, supporting team members within the group and providing cover for projects during leave.
- Support network activities during asset failures whilst ensuring water quality compliance during work.
- Minimise and prevent supply interruption, liaising with customers and working to resolve problems where necessary to ensure service is delivered efficiently.
- Develop and enhance working relationships with other teams across the clean water business.
- Support the Network Asset Maintenance within the whole TW estate during Network Events where required and support to meet business targets.
- Act as local network expert for isolation and rezoning providing information for risk assessments & sharing information regarding network risks and other Health & Safety issues.
- Responsible for investigating the clean water network to resolve poor asset performance, including high or low pressure, leakage, metering queries and interruption of supply.
Location: South West London - Kingston - KT1 3BW, however, you will cover the wider area and drive between several different sites; therefore, you will need a full clean UK driving licence.
Hours and Working Pattern: 38 hours per week, 07:30 – 15:36, Monday-Friday.
What you should bring to the role:
- An in-depth knowledge of the clean water network with an understanding of domestic plumbing, water mains & leakage detection.
- Be a strong collaborator building trust within teams and across silos.
- Can demonstrate a strong external customer service ethic, measurement of customer satisfaction and a proven track record of delivering improvement for internal and external customers.
- Proven experience in project or work coordination with ability to communicate in a friendly, open, honest and constructive manner with a range of people and stakeholder departments.
- This role will require you to work autonomously as well as within a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain high quality standards and strategic thinking, especially during complex activities.
- Experience in using IT and MS Teams Software.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring:
- A water industry qualification in operating water networks, or an equivalent qualification.
- Proven skills of water networks competency and completion of relevant operational water networks training.
- Experience working on large scale water network projects.
- Experience using GIS, Z-One and Sample Manager Software.
