Thames Water is on a mission to transform and modernise our wastewater infrastructure — and we are looking for a Senior Technical Assurance Engineer with a strong Process Engineering background to lead the way on some of our most ambitious Major Projects. This isn’t just a technical role; it’s an opportunity to shape the future of wastewater treatment for millions of people, balancing cutting-edge design, sustainability, value for money, and long-term resilience.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with diverse internal stakeholders, including engineers, asset management, and operations to shape fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and regulations, as well as our policies, standards, and expectations.
  • Support Thames Water’s ‘triple zero’ Health, Safety, and well-being vision through audits and reviews.
  • Identify and support the management of delivery risks and opportunities.
  • Train and mentor team members in treatment processes, procedures, and compliance requirements.

This role will be based on a Hybrid Basis at Clearwater Court in Reading, requiring on-site presence three days a week. 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

What you should bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's, preferably Master's, degree or other appropriate technical qualification in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Recognised by a relevant professional institution as a chartered member or actively working towards chartered membership.
  • Several years of relevant experience in the water industry, with experience in designing water treatment and/or wastewater treatment plants.
  • Understanding of the water industry environment to achieve compliance with engineering regulatory requirements.
  • Awareness of applying Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015).
  • Technical knowledge and expertise within your discipline.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects and tasks.
