Senior Project Manager – AMP8 – Thames Water
Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company, with more than 16 million customers. We’re looking for senior project managers to lead high‑impact projects that shape the future of the UK’s water infrastructure.
Role overview
You will be a client‑side Senior Project Manager responsible for investment from initial design through construction and completion. You will own the project programme, cost, quality and lead the project team to meet objectives. You will establish a project health and safety culture, work collaboratively with our external supply chain, drive contractor performance, and support the definition of solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Overall accountability for the project programme, cost and quality and leading the project team to meet project objectives.
- Establish a project health and safety culture and lead with a health and safety mindset.
- Working collaboratively with our external supply chain and driving contractor performance.
- Support the definition of solutions to meet the project objectives and be responsible for preparing a clear business case.
- Effective liaison with the relevant town planning authorities and critical internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth running and timely project delivery.
- Contribute to steering project‑wide continuous improvement and delivering against stretching targets.
- Commercially manage all contract matters to achieve the optimal outcome for Thames Water.
- Take accountability for governance compliance throughout the project’s lifecycle, leading to a smooth transition into operational business.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable track record of delivering complex projects in the built environment, infrastructure or utility industry.
- An engineering or other relevant degree or qualification within a business or project management qualification.
- Knowledgeable in managing contract specification preparation, tendering, and tender evaluation processes with experience in negotiation.
- Demonstrate your capability with risk‑based and analytical decision‑making.
- Confidence in speaking to all levels of external and internal stakeholders.
Role location and hours
Hybrid office location with Thames Water regions; on site 2‑3 days a week. Standard hours Monday – Friday, 36 hours a week. Flexible patterns are available.

- Competitive salary £65,000 – £81,720 per annum.
