We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to play a key role in shaping the future of our water network. You’ll collaborate with talented, multi‑disciplinary teams on a diverse portfolio of projects, contributing from early feasibility studies right through to delivery and final handover.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide technical support and guidance on hydraulic engineering matters to internal stakeholders.
- Responsible for identifying hydraulic constraints and developing cost‑effective solutions for water and wastewater systems.
- Ensure technical integrity, quality, and delivery performance of hydraulic design works across multiple projects.
- Manage hydraulic and civil‑related deliverables, ensuring solutions meet Thames Water’s methodologies, national and international standards, quality assurance requirements, safety standards, and regulatory obligations.
- Provide technical support for risk assessments, constructability reviews, design assurance, and CDM‑compliant design development.
- Strong understanding of the regulatory environment to achieve compliance with our Engineering regulatory requirements.
Working pattern or hours: 36 hours Mon-Fri
What you should bring to the role:
- Educated to degree level in Civil / Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
- Previous experience in using hydraulic software such as HADES, ICM, HECRAS, EPANET, etc.
- Previous experience in transient analysis/ surge modelling is advantageous.
- Strong awareness of site constraints, environmental issues, constructability, health and safety, and operability.
- Excellent communication skills both internally and externally with the ability to collaborate and influence colleagues.
- Ability to build positive relationships quickly and proven stakeholder engagement.
- PC literate skills e.g., MS Office as well as having strong literacy and analytical skills.
