We currently have a great opportunity for you to join our waste treatment team as a Generator Field Service Engineer. As a successful candidate, your role will be to maintain, diagnose, repair and optimise the performance of a fleet of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) spark ignition biogas engines located across various Thames Water sites. Due to the nature of this role with travelling in the Thames Water area, the ideal candidate can be based anywhere in the Thames Valley and the London area.
Responsibilities
- Carry out the planned and unplanned maintenance of the fleet of CHP Spark Ignition generators within a geographical region, working with current CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure all maintenance is carried out safely, with the least possible downtime and within budget.
- Complete service records and reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Identify parts required for the order, lubricants, and waste.
- Demonstrate a zero‑compromise attitude towards health, safety, and well‑being in all aspects of work.
- Ensure excellent customer service.
- Work to benefit other team members with skills gained from product training.
- Possess in‑depth knowledge of all aspects of the operation and maintenance of internal combustion engines.
- Carry out thorough, comprehensive, and methodical diagnostics on engine, generator and associated systems.
- Operate and optimise assets using engine/generator controls such as ComAp, DIA.NE and TEM Evo.
- Competently work to a high level of quality, alone or as part of a team.
Earn overtime at time‑and‑a‑half or double rates. All PPE and tools provided, plus a van for duty and on call.

- Salary of £54,000 per annum, depending on experience level.
- Performance‑related pay plan directly linked to company performance measures and targets.
- Annual leave: 24 days holiday per year, increasing to 28 with length of service (plus bank holidays).
