We have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Process Operator at our Beckton Sewage Treatment Works. As the successful candidate, your role will involve completing process-related activities utilising our systems, as well as liaising with the process controller, logging permits, and escalating accordingly. You will also provide support to the sludge stream manager, identify process improvement opportunities and be able to converse at all levels, under demanding situations.

Responsibilities

  • Support in-flight reactive and planned activities while keeping Key Stakeholders informed at all times.
  • Manage all reactive work by carrying out risk assessments; liaising with teams, and escalating when required.
  • Ensuring asset standard compliance is adhered to at all times.
  • Support planned activities, ensuring that all enabling is completed promptly, resulting in reduced planned activities.
  • Monitoring daily alarms to identify potential plant issues.
  • Interrogate, analyse and interpret available data to make informed decisions and escalate accordingly.
  • Follow and comply with company Health & Safety procedures, and auditing practices, and maintain records.
  • Act as technical support for isolation, sharing information regarding process risks and other Health & Safety issues.
  • Monitor all alarms to ensure appropriate, timely action is taken.

Qualifications

  • Boiler Operation and turbine/generator experience.
  • Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
  • Experience in a relevant industry and with experience in helping to manage or control the appropriate processes.
  • Technical expertise and responsibility may require additional qualifications.
  • Good practical experience in the specialist process gained in a related role.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems and Office software.

Additional Skills & Experiences

  • Technical C&G or HNC desirable.
  • Previous experience with SCADA systems would be an advantage.
