Thames Water is seeking a driven and experienced Senior Delivery Manager to join the Income Business Unit where you will be responsible for identifying, coordinating, assuring, and delivering changes to business processes and technology. To avoid any confusion, this role is NOT an IT delivery role. An element of the role involves some creation of user stories to feed into an Agile development team, but the role is largely about development and delivery of initiatives by improving processes and the ways we work with key teams within Thames Water and our external customers.
In this key leadership role, you’ll play a vital part in shaping and delivering change across people, processes, and technology, ensuring our services evolve to meet the needs of both the business and our customers.
What you’ll be doing as the Senior Delivery Manager:
- You will lead the identification and delivery of improvement opportunities across the Income business unit, working collaboratively with the wider organisation to implement change that drives measurable value.
- Partnering closely with agile product teams, you’ll ensure that technical solutions are aligned with business objectives and rigorously tested to minimise risk and protect customer experience and business performance.
- Lead the co-creation and prioritisation of an initiative pipeline, ensuring alignment with business value, resource availability, and delivery timelines.
- Take full ownership of key initiatives, including business analysis, business case development, planning, and execution in collaboration with SMEs.
- Manage customer journeys and stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth delivery and positive outcomes.
- Lead and support a team of Delivery Managers, aligning workloads with business priorities and ensuring effective use of resources.
- Build trusted relationships across stakeholder groups, influencing and communicating clearly to drive alignment and shared goals.
- Champion user-centred design by gathering and prioritising requirements, and ensuring solutions meet business needs.
- Track and report on progress through measurable business value and delivery outcomes.
What you should bring to the role:
- Proven ability to lead and motivate high-performing teams, with strong coaching and people management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities, with a structured approach to identifying issues, analysing root causes, and delivering effective solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence outcomes.
- Experience managing the full project lifecycle from solution design and business case development to implementation and closure.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to gather, interpret, and document requirements through workshops, interviews, and process analysis.
- Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement and working collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
- Adaptability and a strong understanding of evolving business needs, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, change-driven environment.
Location: Hybrid - Walnut Court - SN2 8BN (Occasional travel to Clearwater Court, Reading)
Hours: 36 hours per week Monday to Friday
What’s in it for you?
- A starting salary of £61,500 and up to £70,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
- 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service.
