We are seeking a motivated operations manager to lead and develop a team of controllers, technicians and operators.
To join our Waste team at Crossness STW.
The successful candidate will drive the teams personal performance and improve the overall engagement, whilst managing in line with HR policies & process.
- What you'll be doing as the Performance Manager
- You are responsible for the performance management and leadership of your team consisting of 6 process shift controllers and 1 day process controller, in accordance with company policies, ensuring the competence of individuals through coaching and training to maximise their potential.
- You are responsible for identifying, mitigating, resolving and escalating risk across the crossness sewage treatment site.
- You will need to deliver a consistent approach to asset operation and maintenance to deliver a cost efficient, robust and safe operation 24/7.
- Understand and articulate changes within the budget at regular performance review sessions.
Ensuring the budget is managed effectively in relation to H&S, compliance, people and performance.
- You have responsibility for delivering a safe service to the customer base in your area, by driving a culture of continuous improvement and best practice within the team.
- Health and safety is at the centre of everything we do and as such you will be responsible for implementing this with your site and team.
- Stakeholder engagement with the EA and other stakeholders across the site.
- Base Location: Crossness (STW) - SE2 9AQ
- Working Pattern 36 Hours Monday- Friday 7;30 am - 15;36pm
- What you should bring to the role
- We are looking for a proven manager, ideally someone who has processor operationalmanagement experience with strong skills in engineering, finance, H&S and stakeholder engagement.
- You will need excellent people and performance management skillsto support and drive a team of mixed skills and abilities.
- A strong health and safety and customer-based ethics.
- Excellent organisational and risk management skills are also needed.
Good interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal are essential for the role.
Strong computer skills are also desirable.
- A valid driving licence is required in order to travel to different sites.

- Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience
- The successful candidate would ideally have previous experience of working within the sewage treatment process or in other process orientated roles.
- Knowledge of the process industry plant such as pumps, centrifuges, and boilers (good understanding of combustion, steam generation & heat transfer) would be an advantage, but more importantly will be your flexibility, ability, and willingness to learn.
- Minimum of 2 years Process Operations team management experience ideally.
- Minimum city and guilds level 2/3 in a mechanical/electrical/chemical discipline.
- Previous use of SCADA experience.
- Use of e-mail and excel.
- We require the successful candidate to hold a full UK driving licence due to the need to travel for training and meetings etc.
