We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) or Control and Instrumentation (C&I) technician to join our Water Production Operations Team based in the North East London region.
This is a mobile role, where you will work on various Water Treatment Works and borehole sites around the Chingford, Walthamstow, Waltham Abbey, and Stonebridge Park areas.
We seek a candidate who can work safely, efficiently, and effectively with minimal supervision, maintaining standards to meet statutory obligations and ensuring asset availability and performance measures meet manufacturer standards.
An ICA Technician may operate and optimize processes and on-site equipment to ensure water quality compliance, safety, and operational efficiency, including outside of normal hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installations, commissioning, maintenance, and repairs of water production assets, including level instrumentation, flow meters, and turbidity monitors.
- Work with SCADA systems, PLCs (Rockwell & Allen Bradley), and process control networks.
- Supervise contractors and suppliers as needed.
- Investigate asset failures and implement repairs promptly to prevent water supply disruptions.
- Provide technical advice, stay updated on technical knowledge, and support training for apprentices.
All PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card are provided.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience with relay logic and PLC management and programming.
- HNC or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in instrumentation, control, and automation.
- Preferably, an 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification.
- Understanding of operational plant and control systems.
- Desirable: experience with Wonderware and ClearSCADA.
- Ability to read circuit diagrams, fault find, and experience with inverter drives.
- Calibration and maintenance of instrumentation.
- Problem-solving skills, good communication, resilience, and ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards.
- Teamwork and respectful collaboration skills.
- Full UK driving license.
