Job Description
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of projects on Thames Water buildings. This includes structural projects (Lifecycle) and the delivery of facilities for staff (Welfare), on our huge range of buildings, which include Listed buildings and those of operational importance.
You manage a portfolio of projects ranging from approximately £30,000 to £2 million, from scoping the projects from scratch to completion, including reporting throughout and managing the handover. This is a perfect job if you are looking for more of a work-life balance. You will join a highly collaborative and supportive team and will be expected to travel across the Thames Valley and/or the London Region.
What you will be doing as a Facilities Project Manager
- Scope projects independently, liaising with Operational Specialists (our internal clients) to ensure the scope is fully evolved.
- Invite framework contractors to tender, manage the return, and review and award tenders.
- Ensuring CDM compliance for all projects, acting as Client and managing Principal Designer and Contractor, ensuring all projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and by Thames Water and legal guidelines.
- Liaise with the Controller of Premises for any Pre-Construction information. Check and appraise Contractors' Construction Phase Plans, Health & Safety Plans, Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the safe execution of the works.
- Ensure the Contractor and their supply chain are inducted and aware of any relevant Site Hazards or Health & Safety issues that may affect the works being carried out.
- Deliver performance in key areas of health and safety, environment and quality, with a detailed and organised administration record.
- Liaise regularly with the Controller of Premises and manage any issues with the Contractor's performance, resources and programme or site issues.
- Regularly forecast spending accurately and report to delivery managers, ensuring the escalation of issues where necessary. Understanding and following the company governance procedures in place, and working with others to improve them.
For this role, you will receive a car allowance, so a driving licence is required.
Location – Working out of the Ashford Common area of West London.
This role will require you to travel to multiple sites depending on the project that you are working on. You will be required to use your vehicle, but a car allowance is paid to you monthly.
Working Hours – Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
This role is known internally as a 'Project Engineer'.
What you should bring to the role
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you'll need are:
- Preferably have a background in Engineering, such as Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders simultaneously. This includes internal colleagues, site employees and external contractors.
- Additionally, you will have the ability to work with minimum supervision, be self-motivated and driven, and use your initiative to deliver high-quality work.
- Experience in Construction or Engineering Project Management.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring:
- Formal qualifications within these sectors are strongly encouraged. Ideally, holding at least a BTEC/HND in a relevant discipline or relevant experience.
- Or have knowledge of Clean Water Processing and/or Wastewater treatment.
- Understanding of Health and Safety standards, with particular reference to construction works, including CDM. However, additional training will be provided.
