As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing and delivering projects on Thames Water buildings, including structural projects (Lifecycle) and facilities for staff (Welfare). These projects involve a range of buildings, including Listed and operationally important structures.
You will manage a portfolio of projects ranging from approximately £30,000 to £2 million, from initial scoping to completion, including reporting and handover. This role offers a good work-life balance within a collaborative team, with travel across Thames Valley and/or London Region.
Responsibilities:
- Scope projects independently, liaising with Operational Specialists to ensure comprehensive project scope.
- Invite tenders from framework contractors, manage submissions, and review and award tenders.
- Ensure CDM compliance, acting as Client and managing Principal Designer and Contractor, ensuring safe, timely, within-budget delivery following Thames Water and legal guidelines.
- Coordinate with the Controller of Premises for Pre-Construction information, and review Contractors\’ plans and risk assessments for safety.
- Induct contractors and supply chain regarding site hazards and safety issues.
- Maintain high standards in health and safety, environment, and quality, with organized administrative records.
- Communicate regularly with the Controller of Premises, managing contractor performance and resolving issues.
- Forecast spending accurately, report to delivery managers, and escalate issues as needed, adhering to governance procedures.
The role includes a car allowance, requiring a valid driving license. The position is based in Ashford Common, West London, with travel to various sites as needed. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 36 hours/week. The internal job title is \’Project Engineer\’.
Candidate Requirements:
- Preferably a background in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, work independently, and demonstrate initiative.
- Experience in Construction or Engineering Project Management.
Additional Skills and Qualifications:
- Formal qualifications such as a BTEC/HND in relevant disciplines or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of Water Processing or Wastewater treatment is advantageous.
- Understanding of Health and Safety standards, including CDM; training provided.
