We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team within the Cotswolds area of the Thames Valley North Wastewater Operations Region. This is a fantastic role for someone looking to join a close-knit, high-performing team with a wide range of experience and ability, all working to the same high standards.
What you’ll be doing as an Electrical Maintenance Technician
- Proactively and reactively maintain the electrical assets across the Cotswolds sites.
- Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid interruptions to the process, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
- Carry out service and replacement of assets such as pumps, control gear, 3‑phase motors, starters, controls, electronic control systems (VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks), flow, level and pressure measurement, PLCs, variable speed drives and controls, and chemical handling and dosing equipment.
- Support the local maintenance teams with planned and breakdown maintenance activity on electromechanical wastewater assets.
- Provide technical advice to the wider team, use up-to-date technical knowledge, and offer training or support for technical trainees when required.
- Undertake fault diagnostics and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Interpret and update electrical drawings.
- Give timely feedback on work carried out on a daily basis.
- Monitor treatment processes using the SCADA system and act on alarms as required.
Base Location: Witney – OX28 5JH
Working Pattern: Monday–Friday 7:30‑15:36, 38 hours per week, including a call‑out rota with additional payment.
Qualifications
- Experience in electrical and systems; a time-served apprenticeship in an engineering sector, NVQ Level 3 or greater in electrical engineering.
- Qualifications in BS 7671 or 18th Edition electrical wiring regulations.
- Experience maintaining, testing, installing and fault diagnosing electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Experience with 3‑phased systems.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies and processes.
- Physical fitness for work in confined spaces; completion of appropriate training.
- Availability to participate in a 24/7 out-of-hours standby rota after suitable training and assessment, with additional payment.
- Full UK driving licence.
