Are you an experienced construction professional with a background in wastewater, or a background in another industry with transferable skills? Thames Water have an exciting opportunity for you! We’re seeking a Construction Assurance Manager to lead assurance within our major projects team, ensuring compliance with policies, specifications, and best practices. You’ll provide proactive leadership through construction, commissioning, and handover, influence early project development for constructability and commissioning, and manage a team of up to eight engineers to drive consistency and innovation. This role also involves improving assurance processes, resolving escalated issues, ensuring consultant compliance, and leading defect management to guarantee timely resolution. What you’ll be doing as a Construction Assurance Manager:
- Providing a technical understanding of the Wastewater Treatment work processes to ensure that the day-to-day operation of our treatment plants is not disrupted.
- Ensuring compliance with environmental requirements in asset design and delivery, monitoring delivery performance and working with contractors to address issues and improve performance.
- Manage the input of consultant specialists and subject matter experts, delivering the construction phase assurance on all wastewater projects within your portfolio of work.
- Engage with Asset Management, Engineering and Operations: Identify synergies and use lessons from previous projects to agree on the most effective solutions.
- Support the assessment and appointment of contractors and consultants.
- Manage the Operational Integration team to ensure project deliverables are clear and agreed upon by all stakeholders.
- Verify and approve project plans (Project Delivery Plan, Commissioning Plan, test plans).
The successful candidate will be based at an Office within the East London catchment of Thames Water, Beckton and Crossness STW are the main sites however an expectation of this role is to travel across the whole of Thames Water catchment. As part of this role, you must be on-site 4 days a week, as required by the business. 36 hours a week - Monday to Friday. Successful candidates should hold a valid driving licence and have access to personal transportation – this role comes with a £5,800 per annum car allowance.
What you should bring to the role:
- Hold an engineering degree or a background in a similar role.
- Have a technical understanding of the principles and processes involved in developing, designing, constructing, and operating wastewater treatment works or substantial experience in a similar process environment.
- Have sufficient knowledge and capability for the technical review of project details.
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
- Understanding of performance and quality management.
