We currently have an opportunity for an experienced instrumentation, control & automation (ICA) technician across London and the Thames Valley. As a successful candidate, you will be working with multi-disciplinary teams, alongside a range of operational teams such as systems, mechanical and electrical technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Install, modify and commission new plant equipment to relevant standards.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on systems and plants.
  • Proactively identify and report works for enhancement and deliver cost‑effective improvements to assets and systems.
  • Record work and asset information to improve business performance and identify possible future risks.
  • Provide specialist technical advice, coach, train and develop staff under supervision, including the apprenticeship programme.
  • Interact with internal and external customers in a timely, professional, efficient, respectful and polite manner.
  • Maintain health, safety and well‑being of yourself, colleagues, contractors and visitors, complying with Health and Safety regulations and Thames Water guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • HNC level or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in instrumentation, control and automation, or similar qualification.
  • Preferably 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification.
  • Practical understanding of operational plant and control systems.
  • Experience with Wonderware and ClearSCADA desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Alan Bradley), including management and programming.
  • Ability to read and fault‑find from circuit diagrams and experience with inverter drives.
  • Experience in calibration and maintenance of front‑line instrumentation.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, communication and technical expertise for internal and external staff and contractors.
  • Resilience, adaptability to a constantly changing environment and ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • Team player, respectful of others, supportive of development of others.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Working Hours & Compensation

  • Working hours: 38 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, plus standby rota payments & overtime opportunities which can increase earning potential by up to an additional £8,000‑£10,000 per annum after completion of essential company training.
  • Salary up to £47,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus a company van, tools and PPE.
  • Contributory pension – Defined Contribution – Maximum of 12% – 2x employee contribution.
