The Capacity, Data & Insight Manager is a unique and exciting role sat centrally within the Operations Data, Capacity & Insight function. The role will provide you with exposure to liaise and engage with senior leaders across the organisation. You will have a direct influence on the development of the function, providing people and thought leadership to shape the services the team provide and design the strategy from a holistic perspective. Previous experience within the water industry is not essential, however is highly desirable. There are new opportunities and challenges to overcome every day in a fast-paced and stimulating environment. The success of this function is heavily reliant on thought leadership and engagement; in this role, you will be helping to shape how we do this successfully, including the provision of critical support to key turnaround activity across Operations and Thames Water.
What you’ll be doing as a Capacity, Data & Insight Manager:
- Lead, manage and coach a team of around 16 people, managers and analysts, including performance management, task leadership and talent/career progression.
- Continue to embed the team and its ways of working into the business-as-usual environment.
- Continue to drive the demand & capacity planning and data insight teams as a central hub/centre of excellence.
- Shape and drive the functional strategy, directly influencing any changes required to achieve this.
- Coordinate and communicate the forecasting and capacity planning model.
- Act as the central hub of maintenance reporting for Above Ground.
- Be a leading contributor into the financial annual budget cycles.
- Liaise with field and office teams to ensure data is accurate, we are resourced and in control of our expected volumes to achieve business targets.
- Champion the use of data to make business effective decisions.
- Accountability for GDPR, data quality/integrity across the centralised service centre.
What you should bring to the role:
- You must have worked in a similar role, focusing on data services and/or business improvements within an operational/central services environment.
- Previous experience in operational planning, capacity planning and/or data & insight background would be highly advantageous to truly understand the challenges this area may be faced with.
- Be empowered to self-manage your workload and be proactive in your approach.
- A wealth of analytical experience, outlining options and making recommendations using data, as well as managing and developing teams with strong analytical capability.
- Be resilient in your approach and be able to build credibility quickly.
- Experience of working with, and influencing director-level colleagues – helping to understand, shape and deliver their needs.
- Strong leadership and people management skills are essential to lead a high-performing area of the business.
- Previous experience within the water industry would be highly advantageous; however, similar industries such as manufacturing, telecommunications or other utilities industries would be considered.
This is a hybrid role based out of Kemble Court. You will be required to be in the office every Tuesday & additional days when business requires. There will be a limited need for business travel – e.g. to attend occasional meetings at other Thames Water sites.
