Division: Health, Safety & Wellbeing; Contract type: Permanent (Full-time/Part-time); Salary up to £50,000 per annum (competitive, depending on experience); Closing date: 07/05/2026.
What you’ll be doing as a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor
- Site visits, including assurance and engagement – risk‑based, with quantity confirmed depending on business area and requirement. Expected to be out on site 3 to 4 days a week. Full, clean UK driving licence required.
- Supporting the delivery of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Strategy, including leading or managing work packages, briefing stakeholders, to required deadlines.
- Monitoring performance against the Safety, Health and Wellbeing strategy and objectives, system, standards, processes and procedures.
- Carrying out site HSW assurance to highlight good practice, risks and non‑compliance.
- Advising stakeholders (internal and external) and contractors on HSW matters, including compliance with applicable legislation, industry best practice and the Thames Water Management System.
- Assisting with incident investigations and, where appropriate, high‑risk incident investigations.
- Verifying incidents, actions and safety observations are tracked to closure promptly.
- Supporting training requirement identification and monitoring of Team Skills Register/Training Compliance.
- Assisting with toolbox talks, inductions and briefings on HSW campaigns or concerns.
- Proactively engaging with stakeholders to motivate teams to report safety observations and improvements.
- Supporting ad‑hoc projects as directed, in line with business needs and priorities.
- Performing face‑fit testing as required.
Location: Across the Thames Water patch
36 hours a week
What you should bring to the role
- NEBOSH Certificate or extensive operational experience.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to engage all levels of an organisation.
- A passion for Health, Safety and Wellbeing, leading by example.
- Competence in company IT systems and office software.
- In-depth understanding of UK Safety, Health and Wellbeing legislation.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring
- Technical knowledge in a related or operational industry (utilities, infrastructure, transport, manufacturing or construction).
- Understanding of process safety, CDM and/or roadside or highway work.
- Understanding of Human and Organisational Performance (HOP).
