In this 12 month secondment opportunity you will lead critical improvements to our Asset Risk approach ahead of PR29. You will work closely with diverse stakeholders across Thames Water, including Operations, Asset Management, Engineering, Major Projects and Programmes, Transformation and Digital, to embed lasting change in how we assess, prioritise and escalate risk through the business, using our Corporate Systems to their full advantage.

What you’ll be doing as a Asset Risk Lead

  • Lead on the development of an industry-leading asset risk management framework so that asset risks are accurately captured, assessed, prioritised and escalated. During the 12 months, this is focused on leading the activity to:
  • Enhance and embed our Risk Scoring and Cost of Failure Framework; and
  • Align Risk and Investment Planning Processes, considering behaviours, processes and System.
  • Strategic lead for enhancements to our Asset Risk and Investment Planning System (“APS”) including working with our Asset Data Transformation Programme to develop and progress the System requirements for PR29.
  • Provide risk expertise and guidance to the wider business to deliver continual improvement of asset risk management processes.

Base location: Hybrid- Clearwater Court – RG1 8DB7

Working pattern or hours: 36 hours, Mon- Fri

What you should bring to the role

To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need is:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills so you can confidently influence, collaborate with and manage deliverables from a wide range of stakeholders from our operational teams through to our leadership community.
  • Practical experience of the Thames Water asset base or water / utilities assets.
  • Strong technical and practical understanding of risk and asset management.
  • Not afraid to challenge or ask questions where necessary.

Additional skills and experiences would be great to have:

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, analyse and consolidate data and information from different sources.
  • Experience using and enhancing Risk Management / Investment Planning systems.
  • Experience in identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing new ways of working in a flexible, agile way in the context of changing priorities of the wider team and the business.
  • Competent in MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and collaboration tools such as Teams, SharePoint. Experience of Power BI.
