An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Detective Inspector to work within the Counter Terrorism Unit South East (CTPSE) under the Prevent Strand of the United Kingdom’s Counter-Terrorism strategy (CONTEST) by connecting CT policing, neighbourhood policing and communities. This role is offered to substantive DI\’s.
The government-led, multi-agency Prevent programme aims to stop individuals being exploited by extremists and so we work with local authority partners and community organisations to help find solutions and work to support and protect people vulnerable to radicalisation.
The role of the Detective Inspector is to deliver the policing mission within the national Counter Terrorism Strategy and discharge its Prevent duty requirements (as set within the Counter Terrorism & Security Act 2015); namely “to prevent the vulnerable from being drawn into terrorism and to prevent extremists from escalating into terrorism & radicalising others”. This is a busy and varied role where your work will be instrumental in enhancing national security.
Please note that this role covers Surrey, Sussex and Kent and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes to these areas. There may also be the occasional travel throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level DV together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad. Please be aware that if successful there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries once in post
You can find more information about security vetting here.
