We are currently advertising several opportunities for substantive Police Constables to join Counter Terrorism Policing Borders (CTPB). These vacancies are based at Portsmouth or Farnborough and play a vital role on the front line in safeguarding national security against the threats of terrorism and serious organised crime. In addition to filling current vacancies, we are also creating a talent pool to meet anticipated officer needs over the next 12 months. Candidates who successfully pass the interview process will remain in this pool for up to 12 months from the date of their interview.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Undertake examination of persons using Schedule 7 Terrorism Act 2000.
  • Undertake examinations of person using Schedule 3 Counter Terrorism and Border Security Act 2019.
  • Gather quality intelligence in relation to terrorism, extremism and serious and organised crime.
  • Disseminate intelligence to partner agencies to enable the process of further investigation.
  • Detect and seize cash from persons involved or suspected to be involved in terrorism or criminal activity.
  • Undertake tasking relating to priority CT investigations under the direction of a CT SIO.
  • Respond to alerts generated by the National Border Targeting Centre (NBTC) and PNC Markers.
  • Support CT safeguarding issues, child abduction and family court matters.
  • Establish close working relationships with key partner agencies both in the UK and overseas.
  • Proactively police the UK border in partnership with UK Border Force, NCA and local Police.
  • Act as part of the initial response to any terrorism related incidents that take place at the Border.
  • Occasionally deploy in support of colleagues who work in other CTPSE departments.

Requirements

  • Hold a full UK driving licence and commit to remaining in post for a minimum of two years.
  • Obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance. To meet this requirement, you must be a British national and have lived in the UK for the past five years. Exceptions apply for those who have served overseas or in other diplomatic roles with HM Government, or for periods spent studying abroad.
  • As this is a PC‑designated position, if you are currently employed as a DC your additional payments associated with the DC role will be discontinued upon appointment.
