The Digital Investigations Team at CTP South East sits at the heart of some of the region’s most critical Counter Terrorism operations. We specialise in extracting, analysing and explaining data from devices including mobiles, laptops, smart tech and drones. Our work identifies and understands the actions of those suspected of terrorism offences. We are seeking a Digital Forensic Technician to join our dynamic team. This role suits someone who thrives under pressure, makes confident decisions, and applies sharp problem‑solving skills to fast‑moving investigations.
You will extract data from a wide range of digital devices — mobiles, computers, multimedia systems and CCTV — and support the smooth operation of our lab through ISO 17025‑accredited processes and equipment validation.

- Understand the types of digital data stored on devices and be familiar with common operating systems, apps, social media platforms, and core internet technologies.
- Assist with investigative work, data interpretation, analytical thinking, and the use of Microsoft tools.
- Familiarity with specialist forensic software (Cellebrite, FTK, GrayKey) is a strong advantage.
- Complete essential training covering the extraction and handling of data from mobile and computer devices.
- Solid grasp of the types of digital data stored on devices such as phones and computers; familiarity with common operating systems, apps, social media platforms, and core internet technologies.
- Experience in investigative work, data interpretation, analytical thinking, and confident use of Microsoft tools.
- Knowledge of specialist forensic software (including Cellebrite, FTK, or GrayKey) is strongly preferred.
- Prepared to complete essential training on data extraction and handling from mobile and computer devices.
- Security is paramount; pass and maintain vetting level SC with enhanced security checks.
- Eligibility requires British Nationality and residence in the UK for the past five years; exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government) and studying abroad.
- Emotional and psychological resilience is essential; able to manage exposure to disturbing or offensive content. A psychological assessment is required before starting, followed by annual screenings.
- Flexibility in working hours and occasional travel across the south east region.
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
- Security vetting requirements may affect eligibility; you must be prepared to pass and maintain the necessary checks.
