Purpose of role:
- To conduct investigations and operations into the most serious incidents of Cyber Crime and Online Serious and Organised Crime. To gather and distribute relevant and quality intelligence within the wider Cyber Crime and ROCU network. To provide technical advice and assistance to officers engaged in the investigation of digital crime. To produce evidence in a form which is admissible leading investigations through the Criminal Justice System. Principle Responsibilities: . To identify and secure evidence to assist with investigations and enable prosecutions. . To lead investigations and intelligence development into Cyber Crime and OSOC exploiting various investigative techniques having secured appropriate authorities. . To build case files and manage disclosure to enable criminal prosecutions. . To work closely within the wider SE Cyber Command and ROCU to ensure an effective 4P (Pursue, Prevent, Protect, Prepare) response to investigations. . To ensure close working with the SEROCU digital forensic department and embedded Cyber technical analysts to maximise opportunities to secure evidence from digital devices in compliance with ISO. . To provide an analytical function that supports the wider ROCU and Forces in regards to OSOC working in partnership with intelligence and DII teams as part of the wider response. . To work in partnership with the SEROCU Crypto Currency Unit to develop skills for tracking and tracing Crypto currencies in support of investigations and intelligence development packages. . To work as part of a team supporting live operational activity with real time research and evaluation of information. . To deploy to scenes or for arrest for Cyber and OSOC offenders or as part of the wider SEROCU response to secure evidence and provide advice and technical guidance to other operational staff. . To conduct network investigations. This may include, but is not limited to, serious network intrusions, which overcome IT systems. Investigating the nature, cause and consequences of a threat based on the evidence, information and intelligence. . To support victims and communities impacted by Cyber Crime and OSOC ensuring they are supported in line with the Victims Code. . To write and submit applications for telecoms and RIPA relevant to Cyber and OSOC Investigations. . To attend meetings at a Force, Regional and National Level to provide briefings as required around ongoing investigations. . To effectively manage risk linked to ongoing investigations, ensuring this risks are highlighted to senior leaders. . To work collaboratively with partner agencies such as the NCA, UKBA, HMRC, Interpol, Europol, DWP to collect and disseminate intelligence.
Essential Training and experience, Prior to Appointment:
- Qualified PIP 2 Investigator (Essential) Proven ability to handle intelligence/sensitive information (Essential) Excellent time management skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure within a team as well as independently (Essential) Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills (Essential) High level of IT literacy and a commitment and ability to learn how to operate new systems (Essential) To have a good working knowledge of relevant legislation such as GDPR, MOPI, CPIA, RIPA (Essential) Experience working in the cyber or digital environment (Desirable) Experience of working with computers and systems (Desirable) Experience of using intelligence systems such as ANPR, PNC, PND (Desirable)
