An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CT Case Officer (CTCO) to work within the Counter Terrorism Unit in the South East (CTPSE) under the Prevent Strand of the United Kingdom’s Counter-Terrorism strategy (CONTEST). You will be connecting CT policing, neighbourhood policing and communities to stop individuals being exploited by extremists; working with local authority partners and community organisations to help find solutions and work to support and protect people vulnerable to radicalisation.

The core responsibilities of a CTCO fall within three main categories: Case Management, Engagement, and Police Support. Prevent CTCOs play a key role in assessing if cases are suitable for Local Authority led management and refer cases to a Channel Coordinator. Coordinating between different organisations is an important part of this work, so a strong safeguarding background would be advantageous.

You will explore opportunities for investigation or prosecution of individuals of interest for non-TACT offences to undermine their status/credibility, limiting their activity and provide disruptive capacity to CT Policing-led operations. As a subject matter expert you will get the opportunity to support front line staff, acting as community contact for any counter terrorism consequence management, along with the delivery of Prevent / training across the wider policing family.

Strong communication skills and proven risk management ability are essential for this role. You will be supported by a team of highly skilled and trained CTCOs and this role offers hybrid/agile and flexible working opportunities. Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may occasionally be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level SC. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.

Please note that this is a PC-designated position. If you are currently employed as a DC and choose to apply, any additional payments associated with your DC role will be discontinued upon appointment.

The leadership within CTPSE and SEROCU are actively committed to embedding and sustaining an inclusive culture that recognises and champions the diversity of our people, and promotes equity and equality so that everyone can succeed at work. The region is delivering this commitment through a long term strategy that takes a holistic and intersectional approach to wellbeing & inclusion.
