As Cory’s Communications Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and development of Cory’s internal and external communication channels, including media engagement, digital communications, and social media. You will also support the Head of Communications and Public Affairs (HCPA) on engagement with policy areas relevant to the sector and other communications initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with the HCPA and senior executives to drive Cory’s internal communications, with a focus on employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, and transparency around business performance and material issues.
  • Create and curate content for Cory’s communication channels, including Workvivo, newsletters, the corporate website and LinkedIn.
  • Develop and distribute media materials for corporate announcements and build relationships with key sector and national journalists.
  • Project manage the Annual Report process, in conjunction with the HCPA, Head of Sustainability and Group Reporting Manager, to include liaising with design agency, drafting/reviewing copy, managing photography, ensuring compliance with corporate governance requirements.
  • Support the development of corporate storytelling strategies that enhance Cory’s reputation and profile, including major projects such as Carbon Capture and Storage, Heat etc.
  • Monitor the media and political landscape and support with responses where necessary, such as responding to media requests and updating internal stakeholders.

Job requirements

  • At least 3 years of direct experience in a Communications, Stakeholder Management, or Public Relations role.
  • Excellent writing and copy-editing skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to disseminate complex business information into compelling, engaging, and easy-to-understand messages.
  • Experience of working with the media, handling and managing media enquiries.
  • A self-starter, who takes the initiative and can work autonomously with only loose direction, who will also work collaboratively with different parts of the business.
  • A creative and inquisitive mind, positivity, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic.
  • Interest and experience of using internal communication channels e.g. Workvivo, video, web/intranet.
  • Experience using Microsoft applications, including PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Experience crafting and promoting engaging social media content, particularly for LinkedIn.
  • Desirable: a keen interest in climate/environmental/sustainability issues.

Please note: The role reports into the HCPA and sits within the wider Corporate Affairs team. While the Corporate Affairs team is small, the individual will have exposure to the whole business. The role is based in Moorgate, although some travel to sites throughout London will be expected.
