TLC – Thames Luxury Charters operates a premier fleet of luxurious party boats on the River Thames, hosting private charters for events ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale receptions of up to 600 guests. Known for curating bespoke event experiences, the company is a trusted provider for both private celebrations and corporate events. Our fleet is designed to reflect the elegance of 5‑star London venues, complemented by professional, uniformed staff and an Executive Chef offering diverse gourmet catering options. We are dedicated to delivering exceptional service and upscale experiences aboard our Thames riverboats.

This is a full‑time, on‑site Captain role based in London. The Captain will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our luxury boats, including navigation, crew management, and adherence to safety regulations. The role also involves delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all guests on board. Additional responsibilities include supervision of the vessel’s maintenance and on‑board equipment to uphold high standards of safety and presentation.

Qualifications

  • Valid maritime licences and qualifications required for operating vessels on the River Thames including: Tier 1, Level 2 Boat Masters Licence (BML) with the following endorsements: Local Knowledge, Passenger Operations, Large Passenger V, and a valid ML5 Medical or ENG 1
  • Expertise in vessel navigation, safety protocols, and maritime regulations
  • Leadership and crew management skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and manage team dynamics
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service and maintaining professionalism in a high‑end hospitality environment
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to manage unexpected situations calmly
  • Prior experience in operating luxury vessels or working in event‑oriented settings is highly desirable
  • Ability to perform inspection and oversee maintenance to uphold the vessel’s top‑tier standards

Hours of Work

Your hours of work will be based on an average of 48 hours per week and will be variable in accordance with the workload of the vessels and will include some evenings and weekends. We offer a competitive salary, negotiable depending on experience. All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
