A brilliant opportunity to join Uber Boat by Thames Clippers (UBTC) at a time of significant growth. UBTC was founded in 1999, initially operating a one boat service from South East to Central London. Today UBTC has a fleet of 23 vessels, serves 24 piers and carries over 5 million passengers, providing a unique transport offering to London’s commuters and visitors, connecting them to their homes, places of work and river-side attractions, in an environment that is unmatched by any other form of London transport. UBTC operates the only commuter service on the Thames and occupies a distinct market position for tourist and visitor experiences by linking the majority of riverside attractions. The business is now excited to be adding an Exclusive Café Bar at Embankment Pier in an ideal location for servicing commuters, local offices & theatres.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The production and delivery of drinks/food in line with brand standards & recipes and in compliance with relevant food safety and alcohol licensing laws.
  • To understand and follow the procedures to ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately and to make all reasonable efforts to ensure that stock is not lost or stolen.
  • To provide a ‘world class’ standard of customer service at all times, being proactive in offering customer information.
  • To prepare and serve food and beverages to customers following the presentation guidelines set out in line with our brand standards and answer questions about products.
  • Clearing tables & cleaning food surface areas regularly to maintain a high level of cleanliness & hygiene.
  • Operating the dishwasher in order to ensure there is an ample supply of glassware, crockery & service utensils.
  • To follow food hygiene/safety procedures in line with health and safety requirements e.g. temperature.
  • To ensure sales of alcohol are completed responsibly and in line with licensing requirements e.g. Challenge 25.
  • To greet all customers with a friendly welcome and explore their requirements for food and drink.
  • To process all sales through the EPOS system and ensure payment is taken and recorded in full.
  • To maximise the profitability of your sales by offering suitable ‘add-ons’ which could enhance the customer’s enjoyment of their purchase.
  • To minimise losses by taking all reasonable steps to ensure stock is not lost, stolen or damaged.
  • Working alongside the rest of the facilities team to ensure that the daily, weekly & monthly cleaning programme is followed and kept to a high standard of cleanliness at all times during service.
  • To monitor & replenish stock as required and ensure appropriate displays of food, beverages & merchandise.
  • Report to line manager any feedback, complaints, suggestions, stock requirements, breakages, faults or hazards identified during the course of work.
  • To take part in monthly drills to ensure emergency preparedness, and maintain an accurate log of these sessions.

  • Undergo specialist courses to enhance individual experience for working at private or corporate events.
  • Undertake any other relevant duties or reasonable requests as requested by a member of the senior management team.
  • The ability to work flexible hours and shifts which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Being punctual and maintaining regular and consistent attendance.

  • Have a genuine desire and ability to work with the public in a front line, customer focused environment.

  • Ability to multi-task in a very busy environment remaining organised and patient even when working under pressure.
  • Food hygiene certificate – Level 2.
  • Knowledge of the Thames and surrounding areas/attractions.
