Role Details

Role: Lead Worker – Lambeth Outreach Team

Salary £37,750 per annum

Contract: Fixed term for 12 months

Location: Lambeth

Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted outreach to people sleeping in tents and encampments, building trusting relationships and promoting engagement with support services.
  • Manage a caseload, identifying the most appropriate routes away from the streets and coordinating support to achieve this.
  • Undertake dynamic risk assessments and safeguarding work, ensuring risks are effectively managed and shared with relevant partners.
  • Work in partnership with police, community safety, housing and outreach colleagues to coordinate responses to tents, encampments and associated issues.
  • Gather, record and analyse information on rough sleeping hotspots and encampments to support effective service delivery and decision making.
  • Exercise delegated authority on behalf of the local authority to support proportionate, lawful and welfare‑led management of tents and encampments.

Qualifications

  • Confident and professional approach to representing the team and advocating for clients in multi‑agency meetings with other services that may hold different priorities and ways of working.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills, proven within a context of working with vulnerable adults.
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills, and the ability to deploy these independently.
  • Experience and knowledge of support strategies to manage a caseload alongside the liaison functions of the role.
  • Have a creative response to rough sleeping and be able to work imaginatively with clients to plan their end to street homelessness.
  • The desire to work in a busy team and collaborate with colleagues and external partners to achieve quick but sustainable outcomes for our clients.
