Job Description
At Thalia, we are recruiting for a Transport Supervisor to oversee a fleet of circa 35 drivers at our site in Waterbeach. You will report directly to the Operations Manager and be responsible for running the Transport operation made up of a range of vehicles from 3.5 tonnes to 44 tonnes.
- Working hours: Thursday – Monday 7am – 3pm
- £110 weekend allowance (weekly)
- Use of Company Van for business use
Daily responsibilities include:
- Support the Operations Manager in ensuring all processes are followed on site and on the road.
- Assist the Transport/Compliance Manager in coordinating activities to ensure safe, legal, and efficient operations.
- Oversee fleet, equipment, and resourcing levels to meet operational demand at Waterbeach.
- Monitor driver hours, ensuring compliance with current legislation for breaks and rest periods.
- Manage the Checked Safe defect reporting system, ensuring daily and accurate use to maintain vehicle compliance.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance, repairs, and servicing, ensuring fleet readiness.
- Lead and supervise the driver team, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and high performance.
- Ensure transport documentation is managed in line with legislation for audit readiness.
- Handle scheduling, routing, and dispatching to ensure efficiency and timely delivery of services.
- Investigate driver incidents and report vehicle accidents promptly to insurance and management.
- Monitor and report on transport costs, identifying opportunities for savings and operational improvement.
- Collaborate with customer service to resolve transport-related issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Conduct compliance and H&S observations of drivers and manage driver absenteeism and holiday planning.
- Attend weekly team meetings, reporting on transport performance and budget.
Qualifications (Desirable):
- Supervisory Management Training
- Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- LGV Licence
Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of drivers hours (tachograph)
- Computer literacy – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to communicate with team and management
- Excellent Planning and Organisational skills, able to effectively prioritise and multi-task
