We are looking for a Technical Support Manager to provide proactive technical and logistical support directly to the end user and provide on-site support to the IOS Office in Culdrose.
What will you deliver?
- Primary point of contact for Crowsnest/ORIMOS customer technical queries, technical advice on modification standards, component part numbers, Technical Publications queries and Aircraft Specific Support Equipment.
- Primary point of contact into Thales for LM, MoD PT and other users.
- Ensure that customer identified fault investigation actions are undertaken.
- Address technical concession requests.
- Provide support to internal and external progress reporting.
- Provide input to internal peer reviews.
- Provide technical data and analyses on request to support the DRACAS process.
- Provide technical data and analyses on request to support the Obsolescence process.
- Co-ordinate or undertake (as required) technical support activities at Customer/User sites.
- Identify Technical Publications update requirements and manage and co-ordinate the closure of unsatisfactory feature reports.
- Co-ordinate requests for validation and issue of Technical Instructions and compilation of Technical Instructions.
Who are we looking for?
- Technical support or engineering support experience within aerospace, defence, avionics, or other complex systems environments.
- Proven ability to investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical faults, including contributing to formal fault investigations.
- Strong experience working with technical documentation, including Technical Publications, modification standards, and part‑number control.
- Experience coordinating technical activities across multiple stakeholders such as MoD, OEMs, engineering teams, and end users.
- Hands‑on involvement in DRACAS or similar corrective‑action processes, providing technical data and analysis.
- Experience managing technical instructions, updates, concessions, or configuration‑controlled documentation in a regulated environment.
Desirable
- Background supporting airborne mission systems (e.g., Crowsnest, Merlin, AEW, radar, sensors).
- Familiarity with MoD engineering processes, DEF STANs, JSPs, or working with defence primes such as Thales or LM.

Security Clearance Requirement:
Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment. To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
