Overview
Location: Glasgow, United Kingdom — Hybrid. Thales is a global technology leader in defence, aerospace, security and space, offering innovative solutions to customers worldwide. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced DV Cleared Systems Test Engineer to work on ground-breaking solutions for major defence programs in the UK.
About the role
You will be vital to the creation and implementation of platforms used for real-time system modelling and simulation, and you will be an integral part of System Integration, Verification and Production testing.
Thales Glasgow team is involved in several Military vehicle sighting projects and a significant UK submarine multi-sensor contract.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and support the execution of Automated Test Solutions to increase effectiveness and efficiency across the product portfolio.
- Recommend and implement validation approaches, including developing more accurate solutions across the test services.
- Work with product design teams to interface solutions coherently with software, hardware and firmware architectures.
- Report, monitor and document test results; perform detailed functional measurements.
- Provide on-site support for existing ATE at the Glasgow facility.
About You
You Have
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- A strong understanding of electronic components, integrated circuitry, PCB and algorithms
- Ability to utilise project, technical and delegation experience to actively lead the development of solutions
- An appreciation for high engineering standards
- Experience in Automated Modelling, Simulation or Test Methods
Desired Experience
- Electronic Engineering Degree or Relevant Discipline
- Experienced user of LabVIEW or similar applications
- Prior experience/proficiency in NI FPGA software and PXI-based equipment would be an advantage
- Hands-on experience with test equipment (e.g., light sources, oscilloscopes, data acquisition boards, amplifiers, switches)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Security clearance
This role requires UK National status and Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. If not already held, the successful applicant will need to obtain and maintain DV clearance prior to commencing employment. Refer to the UK Security Vetting guidance for details.
