Overview
Product Safety Engineer (Glasgow/Green Park) β Thales UK OME organisation. An opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of Land, Naval and Air products and systems. The role supports the Safety and Technical authorities, the safety team and the wider organisation, with potential involvement in reliability, environmental and materials analysis when required.
Responsibilities
- Generate safety artefacts to support the product safety argument, such as Safety & Environmental Management Plans, Hazard Logs and Safety & Environmental Case Reports.
- Facilitate hazard/risk identification including functional failure analysis, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, Fault & Event Tree Analysis.
- Develop product safety requirements.
- Support Project Design Authorities in achieving compliance with legislation, regulations and standards applicable to the product(s).
- Assist in generating reasonable bid estimates.
- Peer review product safety-related artefacts generated by others in the team.
- Manage multiple safety programmes, including scheduling and stakeholder interaction.
- Support the development of Product Safety training material and deliver the training.

- Experience in the implementation and delivery of Product and System Safety Engineering activities is highly desirable.
- Ability to build positive and effective relationships with stakeholders, including team members and customers.

Qualifications & Requirements
The role holder should have suitable qualifications and relevant experience in engineering design/delivery and lifecycle management, and demonstrate appropriate behaviours and skills. The role may involve involvement with reliability, environmental and materials analysis as required. The role requires the ability to support the Safety Authority with safety concerns regarding products and policy/process applications.
This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held; if not, the successful applicant will need to undergo, achieve and maintain SC Clearance. Please visit the UKSV website for guidance. Eligibility for full SC generally requires UK residence for the last 5 years (in some cases a minimum of 3 years may be accepted with additional overseas checks).
As part of Thales Baseline Security requirements, candidates may be asked for identity, eligibility to work in the UK, and employment/education history up to three years.
