The Maritime Autonomous & Remote Systems Team (MMCM) is delivering a complex system-of-systems including platform, sensors, command and control, payload deployment, autonomy and communications. We are looking for a keen and motivated Maritime Autonomous Systems Trials Engineer (IVVQ) to contribute to IVVQ strategies and associated tests to ensure successful client delivery.

What you will deliver

  • You will be a member of the team responsible to the USV IVVQ Lead for delivering the subsystem’s IVVQ strategy, performing tests, fault diagnosis and operating the systems with Systems, Software, Hardware and operations engineering teams.
  • You will collate and present test Verification and Validation evidence captured during test activities to enable design sell-off and/or Customer Acceptance of delivered entities.
  • You will liaise with the Systems, Software and Hardware teams to resolve investigations prior to delivery.
  • You will integrate and test all hardware and software sub-systems fitted to the Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV).
  • You will diagnose faults, rectify as required, and record defects for action in the company’s fault recording and analysis tools.
  • You will liaise with the USV Systems Engineering Manager and the IVVQ Manager for the overarching system.

Who are we looking for

Essential

  • Logical, methodical, detail-oriented approach with strong investigation and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey technical issues to team members, Design Authorities and management.
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently or under supervision as needed.
  • Broad understanding and creative use of computer systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic engineering and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for technical documents, reports, plans and spreadsheets.
  • Basic planning skills.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of autonomous and/or remotely operated platforms/systems.
  • Ability to navigate and configure Linux systems.
  • Knowledge of Command, Control, Communications and Computer Information systems.
  • Experience with installation, testing and commissioning.
  • Experience in working to, or writing, technical requirements; knowledge of software engineering and IT networking.
  • Knowledge of marine platforms (electro-mechanical) and DOORS requirements management tool.

Desirable Qualifications and Certification

  • Technical Degree/HNC/D or equivalent.
  • Two years or more experience in a test background.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Maritime and Coastguard Medical Certification; RYA Powerboat Level 2 (desirable).
