A vacancy has arisen for Technology Manager, reporting to the OME Chief Technologist, to provide management of our research and innovation activities. The role will be of interest to professionals with experience in optronics systems, with ambition to take on larger responsibilities in that domain.
The key responsibilities for the OME Technology Manager will be:
- Manage the Technology SFRD budget, research topics, and resource needs.
- Implement horizon scanning to assess new and emerging technologies.
- Identify business challenges and leverage Open Innovation to find SME partners and solutions.
- Serve as the OME Intellectual Property Correspondent, overseeing invention disclosures and patent processes.
- Coordinate the Specialists & Experts process.
- Manage university engagement activities.
- Lead the OME Design Centre, collaborating with the global Thales Design Centre Network.
- Support R&D tax credit analysis.
Skills, qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor, Masters or Post-Doctoral Degree (BEng, BSc, MEng, MSc, EngD or PhD) in a mathematical, scientific or engineering subject
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Demonstrated experience with development or application of Optronics and/or Missile Electronic Systems
- Interest and knowledge of a range of technology including, lasers, AI, imaging, quantum, stabilisation, optics, autonomy
- Knowledge and experience of IP and patents [desirable]
