Hardware Engineering Manager – Electronics
The role is based in Glasgow, United Kingdom with a hybrid working arrangement – 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage the hardware development cycle, ensuring alignment with project and system requirements.
- Customise the hardware engineering environment, including processes, practices, and tools.
- Allocate tasks among team members, prioritise work, and manage day‑to‑day activity.
- Participate in the development of system architecture and allocation of functions to hardware components.
- Occasionally act as Work Package Manager, generating bids and estimates.
- Provide technical direction to the team, managing challenges and risks.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (systems, mechanical, software, safety) to develop optimal solutions.
- Develop junior team members, propose improvements, and review peer work.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience in hardware development and engineering management.
- Strong understanding of the hardware life‑cycle from requirements to verification.
- Excellent leadership, team management, communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with CAD/EDA tools such as Cadence or Mentor Graphics.
- Experience from bid/concept through to system integration and support.
- Ability to influence design approaches and technologies.
- Experience advising, supporting and auditing multiple projects and resources.
- Contribution to defining policies and guidelines for the business unit.
Desirable Attributes
- Product knowledge of lasers and cameras.
- Passion for continuous learning and keeping up to date with electronics engineering advances.
- Knowledge of the Chorus 2.0 Design, Develop and Qualify lifecycle or equivalent ISO 9001 compliant system.
- Level 6 Qualification in a hardware engineering discipline (e.g., BEng(Hons) Electronics).

Security Clearance
SC clearance required; current clearance advantageous. Successful applicant will obtain and maintain SC clearance. Baseline and Security Clearance evidence will be requested as per UK Security Vetting procedures.
