We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer to provide ongoing support to trials and field service for a Deployable Military Air Traffic Control (ATC) radar and radio systems at various locations. The role is based at RAF Topcliffe and involves supporting the transportation, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of radar and ATC systems during trials.

What will you deliver?

  • Support the transportation, installation, and set‑up / take‑down of the radar system.
  • Undertake scheduled maintenance of equipment, including fault diagnosis and local repair.
  • Conduct inspections and testing under project guidance.
  • Liaise with management and other support engineers to provide user feedback to the business.
  • Assist in delivering user training.

Who are we looking for?

  • Proven experience supporting ATC solutions from both hardware and software viewpoints, civil or military background.
  • Understanding of customer ATC operations from a technical support viewpoint.
  • Experience of customer ATC site operations.
  • Proven experience in supporting complex electro/mechanical air traffic management systems.
  • Ability to generate and deliver timely and accurate oral and written reports concerning equipment condition and serviceability to management levels.
  • Holding current SC clearance or eligibility to gain it.

Desirable

  • Experience in preparation, set‑up, and field support of deployable military C4I capabilities and systems.
  • Experience in setting up and maintaining TACAN systems.
  • Qualified to IET 17th Regulations, Electrical Installation checks.
  • ATSEP Certified.

Security Clearance Requirement

Due to the nature of the work, this role requires Security Clearance (SC). If not currently held, the successful applicant must undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment. Eligibility generally requires residence in the UK for the last 5 years (or a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the last 5 years in some circumstances).
