Due to continued and successful growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Avionics Aircraft Simulator Engineer. Based at the Voyager Academy at RAF Brize Norton, this is an excellent opportunity for a simulator engineer to join a professional and dynamic team. Successful candidates will be subject to the necessary Government security checks.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Carry out pre and after use checks of the simulator equipment
- Carry out scheduled maintenance on the simulator equipment
- Prepare the equipment for use
- Recognise fault conditions on the simulator equipment
- Assist as required in all other maintenance activities
- Be acquainted with MOD documentation practices and procedures
- Assist in the compilation of COSHH and Risk Assessments
- Carry out defect investigation and rectification on the simulator equipment
- Assist in other maintenance activities on simulator equipment as required for the execution of the task
- Undertake duties as required by the manager for the general day‑to‑day running of the site
- Carry out supervisory activities where authorised in the execution of the maintenance task
- Take up secondary duties that need to be undertaken for the management of the site
- Deputise for the Senior Simulator Engineer if required by Site Engineering Manager
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in flight simulation
- Excellent IT / computing skills (Software & Hardware)
- 5 years experience in Flight Simulation or related field
- Repair, overhaul, calibrate and test flight simulator systems to ensure optimum performance
- Rectify all defects on Flight Simulators, their sub‑systems and components, visual systems and other training devices
- Modify existing hardware and software and carry out preventative maintenance and testing to meet company and regulatory standards
- Update all technical and regulatory documentation as required
- Experience in maintenance and operation of flight simulators in particular CAE L‑3 (Rediffusion / Thales) and TRU Simulation devices
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements governing flight simulators and ability to maintain devices to a high standard
- Analytical and diagnostic skills required to operate and maintain technical areas such as electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic components
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work pro‑actively and independently
