Thales Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) UK is a principal supplier of UAS, EW and Radar equipment to the UK armed forces, as well as an exporter of these capabilities worldwide. We are looking for experienced engineers with the skills and experience to enhance our Electronic Warfare portfolio, delivering cutting edge products including:
- Digital Radar Electronic Support Measures (RESM) that provides situational awareness and identify threats even in busy Electronic Transmission Environments
- Radar Electronic Countermeasures (RECM) that can protect assets by denying tactical advantage and distracting incoming threats.
We are seeking an Electronic Warfare Systems Architect with experience of working within the field of Electronic Warfare, or related fields such as RESM, CESM, ECM or similar. You will have prior knowledge of the key principles of the domain and can quickly grasp the science and technology that sits behind a modern digital EW suite. You may have a military background, having operated EW equipment in the field, or have worked in the design, development or testing of similar products. You’ll be working alongside other engineers, procurement and production teams to drive our EW Vigile D product forward, both in terms of Features and Non-Functional characteristics to meet the growing demands of our customers.
Role Description
- Define and recommend candidate architectures for the corresponding level (solution or solution element) to satisfy stakeholder expectations according to the standards and re-use policies, the technology roadmap and the business strategy
- Establish the solution architecture by making trade-offs between stakeholder expectations, technical and technological solutions and costs, risks and schedule, document the associated artefacts (architecture justification in the design and justification file, product breakdown structure, system/segment design document) and approve the resulting lower-level specifications (internal or external)
- Assist in the solution development cycle and in defining the co-engineering approach
- Manage, all along the project life cycle, the assignment of the corresponding level requirements, the management of the performance evaluation and the critical parameters, the definition of the interfaces, the technical negotiation between the different stakeholders (internal or external)

Profile
- You graduated with an Engineering or Scientific degree, and you have significant experience in architecture and engineering systems
- You are a leader willing to engage and develop your team through the use of collaborative work and challenging approaches
- You are responsible and show a great sense of initiative
- You are convincing and persuasive
- You like to be involved with the customer
- You have good communication and relationship skills
Experience in one of the following areas:
- Electronic Warfare Domain concepts
- RF Systems (EW, CESM, Comms)
- RF Performance Modelling/Budgets
Competencies
- You are aware of the description of the operational concept
- You have a deep knowledge of the field and its technical strategy
- You are familiar with operational analysis
- You are able to work in co-engineering (Lean Thinking, Obeya)
- You understand the different actors involved in the project and are able to contextualise and change the perspective (political, economic, social, technical, environmental, legal)
- You are familiar with Concept, Design, Experimentation and Simulation tools, as well as modelling tools (such as MBSE)
- You are familiar with working with Integration Verification Validation Qualification and Agile methods
