Under Water Systems (UWS) Our purpose is to be the leading provider of underwater sensors and decision superiority, helping navies across the world keep our friends, families and all of us safe. We cover four sectors: Mine Counter Measures, Anti-Submarine warfare, Services and Future Capabilities.

Primary Purpose of the Role: To carry out general engineering tasks as required by the business. Responsible for the design and development of RF and electronic items within the CAP group, including but not limited to antennas, tuners and RF distribution units. Work in collaboration with the architects, solution engineers and business development teams to develop innovative, cost effective and compliant solutions to the customer needs. Actively make steps to learn from other members of the Thales family. Share their knowledge and experience with other members of the team.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • To create and agree a development plan with the team leader and then take responsibility for following the plan and requesting assistance as needed.
  • To carry out design activities in a team environment with other engineers.
  • Work collaboratively with production and procurement to produce cost effective, easy to manufacture design solutions.
  • Provide support to the preparation of detailed estimates and bids.
  • To develop the Analogue Design, Simulation and Testing core capability within MMS.
  • To support the team leader in the development of the less experienced engineers in the areas of Engineering Design, use of Engineering Tools and Thales Design Processes.
  • With the Team Leader develop the teams knowledge in Design for Manufacture and Product Line Engineering.
  • Support the Hardware Bid and Product Manager to implement Process Improvement and Product initiatives within the team.

Skills Essential: Highly skilled in Electronics and Hardware Engineering. Good understanding of Engineering Design lifecycles and the interaction with system engineering Knowledge of the application of engineering techniques to the design.
