As an Industrial Process Engineer, you will form part of the industrial process engineering team working on space propulsion sub-systems. Your role will provide various opportunities to gain and share experience in different aspects of engineering, including Bid Support, New Product Introduction (NPI), and Manufacturing & Assembly support. You will be an integral part of the company's endeavours to secure new projects, introduce new technologies, and ensure efficient production processes to deliver reliable space propulsion sub-systems for space missions.
As an IPE in our Space Department, you will:
- Develop detailed work instructions and training materials;
- Deliver training to upskill staff;
- Ensure compliance with cleanroom protocols;
- Provide all manufacturing information to enable efficient, conforming production while supporting health and safety;
- Support the implementation of manufacturing aspects for projects and may assist outside of space projects as business needs dictate.
About the role:
- Provision of Production support ensuring Design Philosophy is followed within the constraints of the Departmental Program and Budget parameters.
- Creation of Bills of Materials.
- Provide Engineering support during the Tool Try Out process and yearly maintenance and calibration cycles.
- Provide Engineering support in the resolution of internal production problems.
- Liaise with customers on equipment issues relating to project work packages.
- Work as a member of a multi-functional team to ensure that during the product design process components and products are capable of efficient and cost-effective equipment and manufacture.
- Assist in the specification, selection, justification and commissioning of new Tool and automated engineering related equipment.
- Examine all Tooling and Automation equipment for opportunities of cost reduction and better manufacturing efficiency.
- Produce estimates of labour and material in support of bid processes.
- Provide training for IPE personnel and other departments for all Tool Engineering activities.
Responsibilities:
- The jobholder is responsible for Tool Engineering activities for departmental work packages.
- The jobholder is responsible for providing guidance on Tooling related matters to IPE and other personnel and to ensure that his/her own skills are consistent with the demand of the job.
- The jobholder is responsible for the provision of all Tooling information required to ensure the efficient manufacture of conforming product.
Qualifications:
- Degree in an engineering discipline is preferred although an HND with extra experience will be accepted.
Experience:
- Skilled Jig and Tool Engineer with a minimum of at least 3 years relevant experience.
- Skilled in the use of Catia V5 r21 and Smarteam software or Equivalent 3D CAD Software.
- Thorough understanding of engineering drawings, including geometrical tolerancing to BS8888.
- Familiar with working within an ISO9001 environment and maintaining system procedures.
- Design for Manufacture and Assembly.
- Problem Solving.
- Knowledge of Machining, mechanical processes, or assembly processes appropriate to Tool manufacture.
