Our Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join Thales (UWS) Under Water Systems, who provide Sonar solutions for the Royal Navy, through the Maritime Sensor Enhancement Team. You will be responsible for supporting the Project Manager (PM) within the UWS MSET team and will coordinate specific activities as determined by the Project Manager and support with the delivery of the overall objectives of the project to the business and customer.
Some of the Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Undertake the activities that will ensure the successful delivery of the project. This will typically include supporting the PM with (but is not limited to) the following key responsibilities:
- Deliver the key results and performance metrics of the project, including gross margin and cash.
- Project Governance throughout project delivery activities to ensure project, technical, procurement and support processes are applied and are effective in controlling risks.
- Ensure all business planning and reporting is published in accordance with Business directives e.g. Project Management reviews (PMR Key performance metrics).
- Taking direct management of project risk, opportunities and schedule management working with the PMO.
- Assisting the PM with creation and management of the Work Package Agreements (WPAs) across the UWS business.
- Ensure data integrity of all project information including financials and schedule. Use the Oracle and Primavera toolset to hold all financial, schedule and resource information.
- Work alongside the PM to deliver transformative ways of working across the MSET programme by working with the wider Thales business.
Security Clearance statement
Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment.
To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
About You
You will have experience in or with the principles of Project Management within a complex, multidisciplinary and multi-site organisation together with the following:
- Understanding of generic processes and techniques used to schedule project activities (for example; Work Breakdown Structure, Organisational Breakdown Structure, milestones, dependencies, Earned Value Management).
- Experience and understanding of the Project Management process (including Change Control, Risk Management and Information Management).
- Experience and knowledge of the project life cycle for complex projects through delivery of Development, Implementation, Closure and Support activity.
In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided.
