Overview
As a Senior/Principal System Safety Engineer, you drive safety-critical solutions across the full project lifecycle. You will develop and credential key safety artifacts, lead hazard analyses, and shape design decisions to ensure systems are safe, reliable, and compliant. You’ll work with multidisciplinary teams on diverse defence and safety-critical programmes, delivering robust safety assurance to customers. Responsibilities
- Lead safety engineering activities across the full project lifecycle
- Develop safety artifacts such as Safety Cases, Safety Plans and Hazard Logs
- Conduct HAZID and risk assessment workshops using HAZOPs, STPA and SWIFT
- Apply qualitative and quantitative safety techniques (FHA, FMECA, FTA, ETA, Bow-Tie)
- Provide robust safety evidence and assurance to customers and stakeholders
- Support multiple projects across a range of technologies and platforms
Key requirements
- Experience in Functional or System Safety within a safety-critical environment
- Knowledge of Safety Management Systems and safety case development
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Understanding of DEF STAN 00-55/56, IEC 61508 or MIL-STD-882E
- Ability to assess risk, influence design decisions and solve complex engineering challenges
