Overview
As a System Safety Engineer at Thales, you will lead safety activities on complex defence and aerospace projects, ensuring safety requirements are captured, analyzed, and validated. You will work within the UK Safety Team to drive risk assessments, hazard logs, and safety cases, contributing to reliable and trustworthy technologies. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge platforms and high-integrity systems while developing your safety engineering expertise. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project safety objectives and security standards.

Responsibilities
- Follow Safety Management Plans and coordinate with the Project Safety Manager
- Record and align safety requirements with the project baseline
- Identify hazards, accidents, and risks; maintain Hazard Logs with traceability
- Assemble evidence for Safety Assessments/Cases
- Capture, report, and resolve safety issues; produce safety artefacts and deliverables
Key requirements
- Bachelor Degree (BEng, BSc) or equivalent in a numerate, scientific or engineering subject
- Experience with Naval Combat Systems or Highly Integrated Systems
- Working knowledge of Safety Management System processes and SMS implementation on projects
- Familiarity with safety analysis techniques (FTA, Event Tree, FMECA, RBD, LOPA, QRA)
- Understanding of safety assessment processes and their application
- Experience with Safety Management Plans and requirements capture and management
- Knowledge of safety standards sources (Def Stan, BS EN, ISO, IEC)
- Proficiency in formal Hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies (HAZID, HAZOP, FHA, Bow-Ties)
- Safety Management System (SMS) processes
- Safety analysis techniques (FTA, Event Tree, FMECA, RBD, LOPA, QRA)

- Safety management plans and requirements capture
