Overview
In this role, you will lead the development of advanced Weapon System architectures and technology roadmaps, acting as a technical authority across major programmes. You’ll evaluate emerging technologies, de-risk capabilities, and turn concepts into operational products for defence, reporting to the Head of Capability Development - Weapon Systems. You’ll collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to ensure technically sound, high-value solutions. This is a chance to shape next-generation defence capabilities and drive strategic investment decisions.

Responsibilities
- Define and evolve Weapon System architectures, including operation concepts, interfaces, and system-level design
- Develop innovative technical solutions for complex Weapon Systems within bid and programme constraints
- Provide technical leadership and governance across the development lifecycle
- Act as the principal technical interface for customers, partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Maintain domain expertise in Weapon Systems and emerging technologies to enhance capability and competitive advantage
- Support Design Authority activities and communicate architectures to stakeholders
Key requirements
- Degree-qualified in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline
- Ability to obtain and maintain UK SC clearance
- Significant experience in senior engineering, systems architecture, or technical leadership
- Proven expertise in architecting, developing and managing complex systems across product lifecycle
- Experience delivering technical roadmaps aligning technology with business objectives
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership ability to work independently and guide cross-functional teams
