The Role
As Associate Urban Designer / Housing Architect, you will lead the design and delivery of major residential-led regeneration and masterplanning projects, with particular responsibility for one of the UK's largest estate renewal programmes.
Working closely with Directors and multidisciplinary teams, you will provide design leadership, manage client relationships and mentor emerging talent within the practice.
You will be instrumental in shaping communities, influencing strategic decisions and ensuring projects are both visionary and deliverable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of large-scale estate regeneration, residential and mixed-use masterplanning projects.
- Drive design excellence across all project stages, from concept visioning through to detailed residential layouts.
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, consultants, local authorities and key stakeholders.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams including planning, landscape architecture, architecture and technical specialists.
- Prepare and oversee the production of masterplans, design codes, design strategies, feasibility studies and supporting documentation.
- Lead design workshops, stakeholder engagement events and public consultation activities.
- Present proposals confidently to clients, planning authorities, design review panels and community groups.
- Support business development activities, bids, fee proposals and client relationship management.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, helping to foster a culture of creativity and collaboration.
- Contribute to the strategic growth and continued success of the Urban Design team.
About You
We are looking for an ambitious and talented design professional with a passion for creating successful places and communities.
You may be qualified in Architecture, Urban Design or a related discipline and will bring significant experience delivering residential and regeneration projects within the UK.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience leading major residential, regeneration or mixed-use masterplanning projects.
- Strong understanding of estate regeneration, housing design and place-making principles.
- Demonstrable experience managing project teams and client relationships.
- Excellent knowledge of the UK planning system and residential development process.
- Ability to balance design ambition with commercial and delivery considerations.
- Outstanding presentation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience producing high-quality masterplans, design codes and planning support documentation.
- Proficiency in relevant design software including Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD and/or Revit.
Desirable
- Architectural qualification (ARB/RIBA) or Urban Design qualification at postgraduate level.
- Experience working on large-scale public sector regeneration programmes.
- Design Review Panel, Expert Witness or strategic advisory experience.
- Established industry network and business development experience.
