About the Company - We are working with a national strategic land promoter to recruit for their commercial land acquisition team.

About the Role - The person we are looking for will join as Assistant Land and Planning Manager and work from their modern offices based in Birmingham city centre. Ideally, you will have 1-2 years post graduate experience in a similar position, in order for you to successfully carry out the role.

  • Source new strategic planning opportunities by networking with industry professionals and undertaking proactive site searching.
  • Carry out initial assessments of incoming land promotion opportunities to establish suitability for promotion whilst considering the adopted and emerging planning policy and environmental constraints.
  • Proactively make recommendations to the Group Director regarding Local Authorities that should be targeted along with supporting evidence.
  • Assist the Group Director in progressing new acquisitions through to exchange of contract and ongoing monitoring of key contractual dates.
  • Maintain a database of land study opportunities including ownership details.
  • Monitor Local Authorities to maintain an accurate database of key considerations in site.
  • Create sourcing strategies to include the status of emerging and adopted Local Plans; housing need; land supply and housing delivery metrics.
  • Monitor emerging national planning policy issues and appeal decisions.
  • Undertake site visits and meet with landowners, agents and consultants as required.
  • Assist the Group Director in the preparation of quarterly regional reporting and attend quarterly regional meetings.
  • A desire to invest time in personal development and training.
  • Attend CPD sessions to ensure professional development and a best practice approach to project management.
  • Support the Group Director in the day to day project management of existing land interests.
  • Take responsibility in the entire project lifecycle of acquisition, promotion, planning application and disposal.
  • Carry out ad hoc administrative tasks as required by the Group Director.
  • Organise and participate in project meetings.
  • Maintain accurate project trackers, liaise with the projects team and ensure key milestones are achieved.
  • Involvement with the day to day consultant management.
  • Commission external project work and maintain accurate appraisals and records of expenditure.
  • Carry out desk-based land studies using a combination of GIS and Local Plan evidence documents, to assess site suitability based on policy considerations and environmental constraints.
