With opportunities to work on cutting edge UK logistics projects, you\βll gain invaluable experience and continuously learn and develop.Join our passionate close-knit team and embark on a rewarding career where your skills and creativity can truly shine.This position involves writing and configuring PLC software, testing software within 3D emulation environments, and commissioning PLC control systems for our automated materials handling solutions across the UK and Northern Europe.To achieve project success, the engineer collaborates closely with the Controls Team, including Project Managers, Controls Engineers, Engineering Designers, and Customers. Additionally, there are opportunities to support Junior Engineers and Apprentices in project-related activities and career development.
What you\βll be handling:
Pre-site Phase
- Writing PLC code to TGW standards
- Defining and creating 3rd party interface specifications
- Writing Functional Design Specifications (FDS) for PLCs
- Emulate PLC software, conveyor and shuttle systems in a 3D environment
Site Phase
- Take ownership of PLC commissioning, resolving software, hardware, and electrical issues
- Commissioning interface with WCS/WMS systems
- Testing and verifying safety systems
- Integrating and testing third-party equipment
- Collaborate with Engineers, Integration Teams, and Project Managers on system testing and PLC functionality verification
- Attend team meetings with controls leads
- Support the technical development of Junior Engineers and Apprentices
What you\βll need:
To be successful in your application, you will need β
Ability to work effectively within a team and coordinate activities when required.
Proven knowledge of writing and configuring PLC code, ideally using Siemens PLCs (TIA/S7), along with experience in commissioning and testing automated systems.
A solid understanding of control systems is essential, including networking and hardware components (Profibus, Profinet, ASI, Motors, Servo Drives).
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Ability to develop and mentor Junior colleagues.
