Job Introduction
The Team Leader PLC Technical specialist plays a crucial role in providing expert support for TGW control systems.
You will be responsible for ensuring that TGW controls systems across customer sites operate efficiently and are optimised effectively.
Working closely with our site management, you will support the delivery of continuous improvements and achievement of the expected operational results.
This role will provide leadership and guidance to the PLC Technical Specialists within the Operational Excellence department, supporting the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of improvement projects.
The objective is to ensure that expected service delivery levels are achieved and sustained through effective technical support and operational excellence practices.
You’ll be working on our sites across Northern Europe so the ability to travel often is required.
- WHAT YOU’LL BE HANDLING
- Identify and resolve technical issues efficiently, supporting customers and internal teams. Maintain, review technical documentation and standardise where required.
- Lead and support the root cause analysis process when required.
- Ensure that continuous improvement ideas are spread and known across the TGW portfolio.
- Identify opportunities that add value for customers and generate potential revenue for TGW.
- Drive continuous improvement in service processes and team performance.
- Deliver department services to meet stakeholder expectations.
- Provide clear and effective feedback to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support and develop training and training material for end users and internal colleagues.
- Support the recruitment, induction and onboarding of new team members.
- Manage team workload and resource planning to ensure project deadlines and customer requirements are achieved.
- Hold regular one-to-one meetings, expected to take place at least monthly, to review performance, progress against objectives, wellbeing and engagement.
- Work safely and adhere to all Health & Safety requirements, including Risk Assessments (RAs), Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and COSHH requirements.
- WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Apprenticeship trained with qualifications in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Basic understanding of PLC controls (Siemens).
- High level of understanding of control systems (including but not limited to):
- Networking & hardware components
- Fieldbus technology i. e. Profibus, Profinet, ASi
- Motion control via inverters and servo drives
- Highly motivated individual who can work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to the Environment, Health and Safety culture.
- Experience working with internal and external customers.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience working with TGW intralogistics automation.
- Demonstrates a proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
- Good fault finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure and show initiative.
- Proven experience in generating PLC code (ideally using Siemens PLC’s).
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and panel drawings – E Plan.
- Previous PLC experience and / or technical product knowledge.
