Role Purpose

The Senior Product Manager - Customer & Data Products collaborates on the strategy, prioritisation and performance of TGS 4C's non-GIS customer and data product portfolio.

Working closely with Research, Data, Engineering, Design, Commercial and Customer teams, the role ensures specialist market intelligence is transformed into trusted, usable and commercially valuable products that support customer decision-making and business growth.

The role combines product strategy, customer experience leadership and portfolio management, while coaching less experienced product practitioners and supporting the development of product management capability across the organisation.

  • Product Strategy & Portfolio Management
  • Contribute market evidence, customer insights and business priorities to the development of the non-GIS product portfolio strategy.
  • Identify customer decisions, workflows and opportunities that TGS 4C products should support.
  • Actively manage a focused set of priority product outcomes while ensuring appropriate delegation and ownership across the product function.
  • Recommend investment priorities, sequencing, consolidation, pricing, packaging and retirement decisions using customer, commercial and delivery evidence.
  • Support the prioritisation of product initiatives to maximise customer value and commercial outcomes.
  • Maintain a balanced approach to portfolio management, ensuring focus remains on the highest-value strategic and cross-product opportunities.
  • Customer Experience & Product Discovery
  • Lead customer discovery activities, workflow mapping, concept testing and post-launch learning initiatives.
  • Define measurable customer and business outcomes to guide product investment decisions.
  • Own and improve priority customer workflows relating to the discovery, analysis, monitoring and sharing of non-GIS intelligence.
  • Collaborate on principles for information architecture, navigation, search, filtering, confidence indicators, exports, saved work and GIS transitions.
  • Partner closely with Product Design to ensure customer needs and experience considerations influence product direction from an early stage.
  • Data Products, Quality & Commercial Value
  • Define target users, use cases, quality expectations, packaging and lifecycle approaches for priority data and intelligence products.
  • Establish fit-for-purpose standards relating to data freshness, completeness, coverage, provenance and confidence.
  • Work with Research SMEs, Data Analysts and Engineering teams to translate specialist expertise into scalable and maintainable product capabilities.
  • Evaluate product performance using customer feedback, product usage, quality metrics, win/loss analysis, renewals and commercial performance data.
  • Support continuous improvement of product value, adoption and business impact.
  • Product Operating Model & Capability Development
  • Build upon and strengthen product management practices relating to discovery, prioritisation, analytics, roadmaps and post-launch reviews.
  • Maintain roadmap integrity and ensure clear accountability for significant product initiatives.
  • Coach and support less experienced product practitioners, developing capability and increasing ownership over time.
  • Collaborate with the GIS Product Lead to align product management practices while maintaining clear ownership boundaries across portfolios.
  • Promote evidence-based decision making, customer focus and continuous improvement across the product organisation.

  • Significant product management experience within B2B software, data, analytics, intelligence services or information-based products.
  • Proven experience contributing to product strategy and delivering measurable customer and commercial outcomes.
  • Strong customer discovery, product prioritisation and portfolio management expertise.
  • Experience balancing customer needs, usability, data quality, speed to market and commercial objectives.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
