As a GIS Technician at TGS | 4C Offshore, you will support the delivery and evolution of high‑quality geospatial data, analysis, and mapping solutions that underpin TGS | 4C’s market intelligence and onshore expansion activities. Working closely with the GIS Analyst and GIS Manager, this role focuses on hands‑on geospatial data management, automation, and technical development. You will play a key role in supporting Geospatial's onshore market intelligence expansion, ensuring GIS outputs are accurate, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
Key Responsibilities- Geospatial Data Management & Analysis: Proficient in using ArcGIS Pro and QGIS. Create, process, and maintain spatial and non‑spatial datasets in line with defined GIS data models and quality standards. Perform spatial analysis to support onshore market intelligence, research, and expansion initiatives. Manage and update GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and completeness. Support data quality control (QC), validation, and gap analysis across core onshore GIS datasets. Produce high‑quality digital maps, analytical outputs, and visualisations for internal stakeholders and onshore project delivery.
- Automation & Technical Development: Develop and maintain Python scripts and geoprocessing tools to automate GIS data processing and analytical workflows. Improve efficiency and reliability of GIS processes through automation and workflow optimisation. Support testing and enhancement of the onshore GIS Dataset. Contribute to the technical documentation of workflows, tools, and datasets. Support the maintenance and enhancement of the onshore web map services, including styling, optimisation, and data updates.
- Internal Stakeholder Support: Provide GIS support to the Onshore Market Intelligence team and contribute to onshore market intelligence expansion initiatives. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate research and market requirements into effective GIS outputs. Deliver accurate geospatial datasets, maps, dashboards, and analysis to support research, intelligence, and decision‑making. Respond to project‑specific GIS queries and provide technical support to internal GIS users.
- Continuous Improvement & Professional Development: Stay current with emerging GIS technologies, tools, and industry best practices. Suggest and implement improvements to data quality, workflows, and visualisation standards. Actively develop technical, analytical, and domain knowledge to support progression toward Senior GIS Analyst responsibilities. Contribute to a collaborative, high‑quality GIS culture within the team.
Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree in GIS, Geomatics, or a related discipline is desirable but not essential.
Skills & Experience- Essential: Strong experience with ArcGIS Pro and core GIS concepts (spatial analysis, projections, data modelling). Experience managing and querying spatial data using geodatabases and SQL. Experience producing maps, dashboards, and geospatial visualisations for technical and non‑technical audiences. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality. Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Desirable: Experience with GeoServer and web‑based GIS services. Proficiency in Python for GIS automation and scripting. Exposure to onshore, marine, energy, or infrastructure GIS data. Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcSDE, or spatial APIs such as WFS/WMS.
