Job Description

Site Manager – Structured Cabling Projects

Location: Newport, Wales

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Up to £40,000

Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Site Manager to oversee small to medium-sized structured cabling projects, or take responsibility for specific sections within larger infrastructure rollouts. Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, the successful candidate will lead onsite activities, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery of works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate a team of supervisors and engineers on structured cabling installations.
  • Ensure all installation activities meet manufacturer specifications and high-quality standards.
  • Maintain a strong focus on site Health & Safety, including the creation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Manage materials effectively to minimise waste and ensure uninterrupted project progress.
  • Procure materials in line with project timelines and specifications.
  • Provide regular project updates and contribute to reporting as required by the Project Manager.
  • Conduct quality inspections and ensure all works meet the required standards.
  • Interpret and update technical site drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Represent the team in client meetings, ensuring all actions and outcomes are documented and followed up.
  • Prepare and maintain all required project documentation in accordance with internal and client requirements.
  • Create patching schedules and coordinate implementation.
  • Develop and maintain Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
  • Support urgent installation requirements if needed.
  • Actively manage on-site resources to maximise efficiency and profitability.

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience in structured cabling or IT infrastructure, ideally in data centre or large commercial environments.
  • Solid knowledge of structured cabling installation practices.
  • Proven ability to organise and motivate technical teams.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Client-facing experience and ability to understand and respond to project requirements.

Desirable:

  • Certification in Health & Safety schemes such as CSCS or ECS.
  • Site management qualifications such as SSSTS or SMSTS.
